The University of Florida Division of Transplantation at Shands Jacksonville provides treatment for patients with kidney failure or chronic kidney disease. Referrals are accepted from community nephrologists, dialysis units, patients and family members seeking options for treating end-stage renal failure and chronic kidney disease. The division has been performing successful kidney transplants since 1989, specializing in both living-donor and deceased-donor transplants.

The transplant division is comprised of UF physicians who practice state-of-the-art, multidisciplinary medicine to ensure the best possible care of patients. Emphasis is also placed on communicating with community nephrologists to ensure continuity with ongoing care and follow up.

These faculty physicians provide services at the Shands Jacksonville Transplant Center. The center is the only transplant unit in North Florida specializing exclusively in kidney transplants and is recognized throughout the state and region for its comprehensive care of patients with renal disease. The center includes inpatient and outpatient facilities supported by a comprehensive immunology laboratory and computer system that links the center to all other transplant centers worldwide.
